Shelley Rockwell-Martin Collaborates My Encounter with the Dogman

Sketch Based on Actual Still Capture
Shelley Rockwell-Martin and her family were featured in Linda Godfrey's Book "Real Wolfmen: True Encounters in Modern America"  and the recently on an episode of Paranormal Witness. Her family had a harrowing experience with a group of large Dogmen like creatures that terrorized her family. In a recent blog post that featured my Blog and the video The Dogman Monsters Are Real Ms. Martin said the following:

Wow! I just watched Scott's encounter again........that's the closest to what we saw that I've seen yet....all but ear placement on the head.

Remember her encounters happen in Maine and mine in Tennessee. I appreciate Shelley taking the time to watch my video and giving feed back on the creature.

Below is the conversation from the FaceBook Group - Dogman Mystery

  • Shelley Rockwell-Martin Robert, someone asked how tall, approximately they are.....the answer is seven feet. We were able to correctly measure the height when one was hiding around the corner of the barn/garage and when "it" stepped forward, it triggered the motion sensor floodlight and it stood literally right next to the ten foot high roll-up door; before it ran to the others.
  • Robert F Shaw Thanks also for this info,as this is even more appreciated!!
This would also correlate with Scott's estimates on size,,as in exactly!!
Have you seen Scott's video footage of the dogmen he encountered? All his encounters were extremely close proxim
ity,and the one approached him from behind, and got within a few feet of him and he was never aware of it,and would've had no idea about its presence,if it wasn't for his video cam attached to this backpack filming behind him.
  • Shelley Rockwell-Martin Wow! I just watched Scott's encounter again........that's the closest to what we saw that I've seen yet....all but ear placement on the head.
  • Shelley Rockwell-Martin Ears ran up the sides of the head, like cupping your own ears, and went beyond top of head, on sides, 3 to 4 inches higher than top of head. I will never, ever forget, unfortunately.
  • Robert F Shaw Wow! I read about you and your family's terrifying encounter in Linda Godfrey's beyond outstanding book " Real Wolfmen". Out of all the drawings and sketches within, the one Linda drew, regarding the witness seeing a dogman on the side of the road clutching roadkill in its paws, and you and your husbands drawings of the creatures both stuck with me the most. And,as the facial features resemble many documented encounters,ESP what Linda has documented so thoroughly.
I wanted to also say Thank You to you,and your family, for reporting this unnerving and truly scary encounter. If more people would make that leap, and have the courage,as you and your family obviously has,to report their encounters and sightings as soon as possible,we would definitely have a better grasp of the situation at hand. We are extremely lucky,as anyone can honestly see right away,in having SO many outstanding, dedicated, and extremely knowledgable folks that have decided to investigate this Erie phenomenon, and try whole heartedly to provide answers, and most importantly a little bit of comfort,in knowing there is other reports of these beings.
Here are the actual still captures from the video:

  1. Great article Scott! I hope you didn't mind me mentioning you in this post. I read about The Martins experience in Linda's book(witch I'm pretty sure you recommend, lol)and it was interesting, but terrifying to consider. However, seeing the Paranormal Witness episode, really puts things into perspective. Terrifying may not be the correct term.
One of the main reasons I've followed your research and work,as no doubt the many that have,is because of your honesty, and personal responsibility when it comes to encounters/researching with the unknown. And,you've always been a supporter of others work. That's a major quality,IMHO,that makes folks like you,and N.A.B.S,and a few others, really stand out. Many groups waste so much time in critiquing, critizing, complaining, etc. The fact that some(as you,and the group I mentioned) do not engauge in this, but rather promote others who are making positive contributions and progress in research is awesome, and hopefully will set a fine example for the next generation of seekers.
I think many of us realize, this is a mess,as in the whole dogmen/wolfen mystery. First were the legends. And,from what many have learned, they go back as far as anyone can find,in one form or another. Then,as Linda Godfrey,Nick Redfern, and a couple other dedicated folks collected over years a massive, and impressive collection of accounts, sightings, encounters. Now,we have your video, and photo evidence, witch I still think is beyond major importance, for it gives a face to the accounts. And,for all purposes, just like your other area of research, your footage shows why people do not see these creatures as they would think:they are true masters of stealth, and thier environment.
So,now what? What comes next? We have many questions, and a long way to go,no doubt. It's likely to take a long time, and many intelligent, and über-practical,,AND unconventional(yes,I still remember your post about the importance of that)folks to fill in the blanks.

  2. Something that has intrigued me about dogmen / wolfmen encounters for over a decade now is that in the early years pre-Patterson film the reports of humanoids with dog ears / pointed furry ears were actually more common...

Also the native americans around Mt St. Helens - the Skookum area- told stories for centuries about savage "bigfoot" creatures- similar to pacific northwest stories of man-eating ogres.

These ogres are superficially like bigfoot but have pointed ears, sharp teeth etc. - dogmen, in other words.

Just as in UFOlogy where some "unacceptable" reports are ignored or suppressed so too in bigfoot research the dogman stories are suppressed.

  3. Looking at the video it looks like the dark object is way in the distant background and the cameraman is moving some. The foliage in the foreground does not move, but the dark object does move a bit and it has what looks like trees in it that also move with the dark object while the closer foliage is not moving, and I think this is a play on shadows, so to speak.

If you have some plant material moving with the dark object and other plant material in the foreground that does not move, then it must be a distant object; otherwise it doesn't make sense. This is nothing but a blob squatch, a play on light and shadows that is indefinite. Moreover, the green foliage in the foreground dictates the shape of the dark object and you can't draw outlines like is done and say that is the shape of that mostly obscured object.

    1. P.S. Look at the real time of the enhanced video # 2 beginning at the 39 second mark of the video. Looking at it in real time you can tell the dark object of that video is in the distant back ground and the camera man is moving the camera around causing the foliage in the foreground to move while the dark object and some trees in the distance in front of it is stationary. You can't see it as well in slow motion. Look at the real time speed.
